وسيف العدل او مكاوى كان قد سافر الى اثناء الحرب الروسية الافغانية ثم اصبح بعد ذلك احد معاونى بن لادن حتى اصبح الرجل الثالث فى التنظيم خلف المصرى الاخر ايمن الظواهرى وبن لادن وبعد قتل بن لادن مؤخرا على يد قوات خاصة امريكية تم اختيار سيف العدل رئيسا للقاعدة بعد انتخاب مجلس شورى المنظمه له

وفور القبض عليه اعترف هذا الشخص بالفعل انه محمد ابراهيم مكاوى ولكنه ليس سيف العدل
وان سيف العدل هو شخص مصرى اخر يدعى محمد صلاح زيدان وهو ظابط احتياط سابق وقد انتحل شخصيتى
واضصاف مكاوى انه فور انتشار خبر تعيينه خليفه لاسامه بن لادن خرج و نفى ذلك الخبر فى وسائل الاعلام المختلفه
ولكن لم ينتبه احد الى تلك التصريحات
واضاف مكاوى انه مع اسامه بن لادن لفترة ولكنه اختلف معه بعد ذلك لاعتراضه على افكاره ولأحساسه ان بن لادن اصبح تابع لامريكا
ثم حكى مكاوى قصة تركه لمصر
حيث انه كان ضابطا فى القوات المسلحة المصرية وبعد اتفاقية كامب ديفيد قدم استقالته اعتراضا على تلك الاتفاقية
ثم تم اعتقاله بعدها عدة مرات من قبل الجهات الامنية
حتى ترك البلاد وسافر لليعودبة ومنها لافغانستان للجهاد ضد روسيا
وقال انه متزوج ولدية خمسة ابناء
