علماء فيزيائيون يخترعون جهاز اختفاء فى جزء من الثانية

أعلن علماء فيزياء يحصلون على التمويل من وزارة الدفاع الأميركية أنهم صمموا نظاما للاختفاء الزمني قادرا على جعل حدث ما غير قابل للرصد لجزء من الثانية

واستوحى العلماء هذا الجهاز الاختباري من أبحاث حول رداء الاختفاء الشهير الذي روج له هاري بوتر لكن بدلا من أن يخفي الجهاز غرضا معينا في مكان ما، يحجبه عن الأنظار في الزمن، على ما ذكرت الدراسة التي نشرتها مجلة نيتشر البريطانية

ويقول مدير الأبحاث موتي فريدمان من جامعة كورنل في نيويورك الي ادار هذه ابحاث تشكل النتائج التي توصلنا إليها خطوة مهمة نحو تطوير رداء زمني ومكاني شامل

وبغية تصميم الجهاز، استند العلماء إلى خصائص الطيف الضوئي المرئي وإلى أن الألوان المختلفة التي تشكله تتنقل بسرعة مغايرة قليلا

ويبدأ رداء الاختفاء الزمني بإصدار شعاع ضوئي أخضر في كابل مصنوع من الألياف البصرية ثم يمر هذا الشعاع في عدسة تقسمه إلى ضوئين: ضوء أزرق ينتشر بسرعة أكبر بقليل من سرعة الشعاع الأخضر الأصلي وضوء أحمر أبطأ منه بقليل
ويتم زيادة الفرق في السرعة بين الشعاعين بوضع حاجز شفاف بينهما وفي نهاية المطاف، تتشكل ثغرة زمنية بين الشعاعين الأحمر والأزرق اللذين يعبران الألياف الضوئية

ومع أن هذه الثغرة صغيرة جدا ومدتها 50 بيكوثانية فقط، إلا أنها تكفي لإدخال شحنة من الليزر ذات تردد مختلف عن تردد الضوء الذي يعبر الألياف الضوئية

وبعد إدخال شحنة الليزر لمدة وجيزة، يخضع الشعاعان الأحمر والأزرق لعملية معكوسة فيقوم حاجز جديد بتسريع الشعاع الأحمر وإبطاء الأزرق ثم تعيد عدسة جمع الشعاعين في شعاع واحد أخضر اللون

وتبقى شحنة الليزر التي تدوم لأربعين بيكوثانية موجودة لكنها تكون غير قابلة للرصد لأنها لا تنتمي إلى دفق الفوتونات الخاص بالشعاع الأخضر

ويشرح روبرت بويد وزيمين شي من جامعة روتشستر في نيويورك أن هذه العملية شبيهة بتقاطع بين سكة حديد وطريق مزدحمة وعندما يصل قطار، على السيارات التوقف عند التقاطع، ما يحدث فجوة في حركة السير

وما إن يمر القطار حتى تسرع السيارات التي كانت متوقفة كي تلحق بالسيارات الأخرى

وبالنسبة إلى من يراقب الطريق عن بعد، تبدو حركة السير طبيعية تماما ولا يبقى أي دليل على مرور القطار على التقاطع

ويشير بويد وشي إلى أن هدف الباحثين التالي هو التوصل إلى زيادة الثغرة الزمنية التي تخفي حدثا ما بما يكفي

ويعتبران أنه يمكن استعمال الاختفاء الزمني لضمان أمان الاتصالات لأن هذه العملية تسمح بتجزئة الإشارات الضوئية وجعلها تتنقل بسرعة مغايرة قبل إعادة جمعها وبالتالي، يصبح من الصعب جدا اختراق البيانات

ويحصل فريق موتي فريدمان على جزء من التمويل من وكالة مشاريع أبحاث الدفاع المتقدمة التابعة لوزارة الدفاع الأميركية والمعنية بتطوير تكنولوجيات مستقبلية قريبة إلى الخيال العلمي قد تستعمل لغايات عسكرية

وقد طورت هذه الوكالة في أواخر الستينيات نظاما لنقل البيانات بين أجهزة الكمبيوتر، ممهدة الطريق إلى اختراع شبكة الانترنت
